While playing in the NBA, Richard Jefferson was best known as a role player for teams such as New Jersey Nets, San Antonio Spurs, Cleveland Cavaliers, etc.
His career average was 12.6 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists.
He was never a team’s most important player, but he was generally a great, reliable athlete who could do a lot.
But that has nothing to do with what he’s doing now.

NBA Memes made a humorous – but accurate – observation about Jefferson: he’s the only man in NBA history to reach his peak after retirement.
What has Jefferson been up to lately that makes him so appealing, engaging, and exciting to watch?
Jefferson’s point of view
Jefferson has become one of the most entertaining and amusing NBA commentators.
Whether on ESPN, NBA TV or Twitter, Jefferson always has an analysis that is both precise and very charming.
Unlike some people on social media, Jefferson is legitimately funny and connoisseur at the same time.
He’s definitely the type of analyst sports networks should invest time in.
Obviously, his years in the league give him a level of expertise that is hard to match, but his personality is still bright and engaging.
Recently, Jefferson spent time on the sidelines of the Summer League, where he took on a new role: referee.
Jefferson officiated a quarter of a Summer League game, where he learned how difficult it is to make calls for a professional basketball game.
After his quarter-hour whistle, Jefferson had a new appreciation for the hard-working men and women hired as umpires for the league.
Hopefully we’ll see and hear more of Jefferson and his unique brand of insight in the coming season.
