A leaked slide for Insomniac Games’ upcoming Wolverine game has revealed plenty of interesting tech details. The game appears to feature some form of AI scaling, confirming rumors that Sony plans to support the technology on its PS5 Pro console.
Last month, Sony ‘Project Trinity’ system specs leaked. That system is Sony’s PlayStation 5 Pro, which is said to feature a dedicated NPU (Neural Processing Unit) to handle AI workloads. The system will also reportedly feature a faster Zen 2 CPU and a new hybrid RDNA 3/RDNA 4 GPU. Two of the main pillars of Project Trinity are scaling and improved ray tracing performance . These two improvements should allow the PlayStation 5 Pro to deliver clearer, higher-resolution image output.
Insomniac Games’ leaked slide for Marvel’s Wolverine confirms that the game will target a framerate of 60 FPS in “Performance RT” mode. The game also features a dynamic weather/foliage system and real-time global lighting. The game also aims to feature “movie-quality” facial animations and muscle/tissue simulations.

Why AI Upscaling is important on PS5 Pro
AI scaling, if done right, can allow players to get the most out of their hardware. In many cases, it can be difficult to tell the difference between a game running at native 4K and one using AI upscaling to run at 4K. AI upscaling can deliver high levels of image quality at a lower performance cost than rendering at native resolution. Although other upscaling techniques exist, AI upscaling solutions (like Nvidia’s DLSS) generally provide higher levels of image quality.
With the PlayStation 5 Pro, Sony plans to use AI upscaling to improve the picture quality of games supported on its new system. Add in the other hardware improvements offered by the PlayStation 5 Pro, and Sony should be able to make games much better on their new system.
