Mikel Arteta has revealed Arsenal star actor William Saliba didn’t train for TEN days ahead of the Brentford clash.
The French defender broke the deadlock on Sunday afternoon with a perfectly placed header to send the Gunners on their way to a 3-0 win over Thomas Frank’s side.
It was Saliba’s second Premier League goal after winning 3-0 at Bournemouth in August.
As well as scoring the opener, the 21-year-old put on an outstanding defensive display to keep Ivan Toney and his Brentford team-mates at bay, which is even more impressive considering his recent fitness struggles.
Speaking after the match, Arteta explained: “He was superb.
“He hasn’t trained for ten days because he was a bit uncomfortable, but he comes and competes like that.
“Not only the goal and his defense, but he does the ugly part of the game that people won’t recognize. He deserves the credit.
Saliba’s opener was followed by goals from Gabriel Jesus and Fabio Vieira which wrapped up the Gunners’ victory.
As a result, Arteta’s side will enter the international break in first place in the top flight.
