Last week’s poll shows that Sony has succeeded: its Mark II phones are exactly what people want. Although Xperias are popular in online chats, when you reach the store, wallet in hand, they suddenly lose some of their appeal.
The Sony Xperia 1 II enhances the triple camera with larger main and ultra-wide sensors, a longer telephoto (3x zoom) and 4K / 60fps support. It brings back the 3.5mm headphone jack and increases the battery capacity. All of these changes were successful with voters.
The mode maybe there, maybe not 90 Hz for the screen did not bother many people. In fact, very few people voted for the lack of features in the Xperia 1 II.
The big hurdle Sony has to overcome is the price – right now, the balance is tilted slightly in favor of the flagship, but the “too expensive” option is a very close second. Another smaller problem is the wait, Sony’s new flagship products will not be released until the second quarter.
The Sony Xperia 10 II also has the makings of a large mid-ranger. Sony’s improvements over last year’s model (OLED screen, telephoto + ultra wide cameras, larger battery and water resistance) have come to the right place. Even the lack of a larger Plus model was not a problem.
The problem was again the price. Many would not complain about the Snapdragon 665 chipset or the fact that you cannot get more than 4 GB of RAM if the price was not what it is. Of course, if the Xperia 10 II review shows that he is a good player, these complaints could go away. But it will take some time before reviewing this phone, as there are also plans to launch a “Q2” wave which could be in a few months.
For what it’s worth, the Xperia 1 launched in the U.S. at $ 950 in July and fell by $ 200 in December. The Xperia 10 only cost $ 170 a few months after launch, so if you’re willing to wait, you can probably get a great discount on the Mark II phones.
