New updates are added at the bottom of this story …….
The original story (published June 10, 2021) follows:
Android 12 is the current hot topic in the Android ecosystem. While stable releases are still a few months away, Google Pixel owners are a bit further along in the development cycle.
At Google I / O, we got a preview of the Android 12 Beta 1 for qualifying Google devices and while reception was good there were some inherent issues. More information on this in our Google Pixel Android 12 bug tracker.
Now the Android 12 Beta 2 update is rolling out to these devices and with this release there are a few key changes to the UI because, well, it’s still a beta after all.
There are a lot of changes that we might not get into just yet, but we can describe some of the more notable, and it starts with the lock screen.
One of the most drastic changes coming to Android 12 is the revamped lock screen. This now features a massive clock when you don’t have pending notifications, a clock that dynamically adjusts its size.
In addition, there is a weather widget on the lock screen. Or at least there was. Now it appears that this weather widget is missing from Android 12 Beta 2 version.
I no longer have the weather icon on the lock screen in beta 2. Does anyone else have it the same?

Ditto in mine. I liked this feature, so hopefully it will be added or just be a bug.

Community forums are replete with reports from users, many of whom are disappointed that Google has decided to remove this feature, which has proven to be useful, giving users weather information at a glance without having to unlock the apparatus.
It is not yet clear if this weather widget omission is a bug in this version of Android 12 Beta 2 or if it has been completely removed from Android 12. Stay tuned as we will update as we go along. as we have more information.
Remember the Android 11 power menu that brought device controls, GPay, and chat controls? Yes, the controversial that people have finally gotten used to? This also changes in Android 12.
These settings are still present but have since been moved to a different submenu as explained by this user.
I see the solution here. New “Device Controls” button next to those that appear now. It might be one more click, but it’s faster than the tile.

For now, Android 12 Beta 2 users have to deal with a much simpler power menu that doesn’t take up the entire screen like the Android 11 implementation of it.
While this new look and feel is in line with Google’s Material You design language, its reception remains to be seen as more and more users continue to update their devices.
We’ll continue to keep an eye on this Android 12 development and update as we get more features, so stay tuned to PiunikaWeb.
Update 1 (June 10)
IST 11:23: Google, through an administrator on the company’s Issue Tracker platform, acknowledged this issue, noting that it has been passed on to affected teams.
We have forwarded it to the dev team and will update this issue with more information as it becomes available.

A related issue affecting media controls has also come to light. Apparently the lock screen no longer shows media song information when the phone is in AOD. This means that users cannot see the song being played on the on-screen interface. This too is under study.
Update 2 (June 18)
IST 13:22 pm: It now appears that the issue of missing weather and player information on the lock screen and AOD has been resolved.
Marked as fixed.
The problem has been fixed and it will be available in a future version.
