New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick is one of the great footballing minds of our time. He finds new ways to outdo his opponent every week and regularly turns underrated players into leagues. Since his life is entirely devoted to football, it is no surprise that his fashion game suffers a bit.
While it’s not unusual for Bill to appear a bit dressier than others (he popularized the “cut-out sweatshirt,” a look he wears often), his latest look is, in the la more pleasant possible, surprising.
For Wednesday’s press conference, “The Hoodie” appeared in a ragged sweatshirt more cut than usual. He completed the picture with hair that looked like it was waking up and an expression that said pretty much the same thing.
Bill, can I suggest a comb?
As he sat there with his mismatched gaze, in a sweatshirt with missing letters, he gave a sadly relatable picture. In the midst of a pandemic and with so much homework, people have taken off their usual pants and shirts and are wearing them every day with the sweatshirt, leggings, or sweatpants. Getting together in a respectable and professional manner seems almost an impossible chore these days as we’ve all slowly grown used to staying within the walls of our own homes.
If you feel bad about not looking your best on an early morning call or going to the grocery store looking slightly disheveled, at least you can feel better knowing that Belichick looked. worst. According to a Belichick hoodie database (yes that’s a thing) he was last seen in this sweater in Super Bowl LII and he debuted at the season opener. 2013 against the Buffalo Bills.
The internet was, of course, making jokes about his outfit and wondering why the hell he still owns a sweatshirt that looks like it could fall apart at any moment. Here are some of the best reactions:
QB Cam Newton, who is always daring with fashion, would he approve?
How this year has hit us all.
Too much time getting Las Vegas Raiders ready, not enough time doing laundry.
Coaches, they are like us!
The sweatshirt will live on forever.
I’m so sorry, Jets fans.
Belichick looking like that tells me he’s ready for Sunday’s game.
“Trick or Treat, that’s scary Bill.”
We’ve seen the Subway commercial, so we know Bill can sort of act …
