Taylor Swift tops a list of celebrities whose private jets have produced the most carbon dioxide so far this year, according to a new study.
UK sustainability marketing company Yard shared a report on Friday (July 29) revealing the pop superstar’s jet flew 170 times between January 1 and July 19, totaling nearly 16 days in the air. Total emissions from the plane’s flights were 8,293.54 tonnes of carbon, or 1,184.8 times more than the total annual emissions of an average person, according to the study.
“Taylor’s jet is regularly loaned out to other people,” a Swift spokesperson said. rolling stone. “Attributing most or all of these trips to him is clearly incorrect.
For the study, Yard used data from the @CelebJets Twitter account, which tracks celebrities’ private jet travel. The data was compiled from the start of 2022 and included the number of flights performed by each star, average flight times, miles and total CO2 emissions.
Other musicians on the top 10 list include Jay-Z (#3), Blake Shelton (#5), and Travis Scott (#10).
Earlier this month, Drake took some heat after @CelebJets reported that he flew a private jet for just 14 minutes from Hamilton, Ont., to Toronto. The rapper clarified the controversy by commenting on the Instagram page of @RealTorontoNewz, which picked up the story.
“They’re just the ones moving planes to any airport where they’re stored for anyone interested in logistics,” Drizzy wrote in the comments section, adding, “No one is taking this flight.”
Drake and Swift weren’t the only celebrities to be called out for their private jet use lately. Kylie Jenner has also been branded a “climate criminal” for her own private flight from Camarillo, California to Van Nuys.
