Taylor said, “I’m such a big fan” before pondering the song. It’s about “falling in love with someone at the same time they’re falling in love with you, sort of in that kind of cataclysmic, fatal moment when you realize someone feels exactly the same way you do.” She said it was like asking, “Wait, is this real? Is it a dream?’… A bit like seeing snow falling on a beach.
Around the world, Swifties tuned into Taylor’s “Midnight Mayhem With Me” TikTok series, where the artist slowly teased out every song title on the album. On October 6, Swift began revealing one per hour until the track listing ended at 4 a.m. ET.
Swift also recently revealed details about “Anti-hero,” calling it “one of my favorite songs I’ve ever written”.
“I don’t think I’ve delved into my insecurities into this detail before,” Swift said. “I struggle a lot with the idea that my life has become unmanageable, and in order not to appear too dark, I struggle with the idea of not feeling like a person.”
Swift announced the record for the first time while collecting the Video of the Year award for “Too Good (10 Minute Version) (Taylor Version)” at the 2022 MTV VMAs. Shortly after the ceremony ended, she shared more details about it, describing the record as “the stories of 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout my life.”
Last month, the star received the award from the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) Songwriter-Artist of the Decade Award. The 32-year-old singer took to the stage at the Nashville Songwriter Awards at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium to accept the accolade, becoming the first female musician to receive the gong, and delivered a 13-minute acceptance speech.
