Earlier this week, Gomez opened up on her new channel SiriusXM Radio about her longtime friendship with the “Anti-Hero” singer. “The most influential artist, for me, is kind of Taylor,” the singer said of her BFF. “Not because she’s my friend, but she’s been an artist who can jump into so many different genres and she’s able to do that seamlessly and I admire that so much. And that’s so rare. I love her process and I admire all the work she has done, she has definitely inspired me.
In his new Apple TV+ documentary Selena Gomez: My Mind and Me, the star is taking her journey through mental health issues further than ever. “I guess when we started recording footage from the Revival tour, we first thought we were going to do a concert tour video, and during the tour I had to cancel it because I was going through a lot of things personally, so we decided to stop,” she explained of the origins of the project.
“Then the trip to Kenya came along and we decided we wanted to record that trip. So it really wasn’t going to be a documentary until the end when we filmed all of that and where I am now,” continued the singer, “I can tell it was going to be something bigger than just a puff… I want it to be about the mental health conversation and the ways we can change the conversation. feels like a human sacrifice. I’m like throwing away my personal life in the hope that this conversation will be bigger and transcendent.
