Taylor Swift has finally released her full tracklist for her album, and there are plenty of amazing songs and references that fans will be dissecting until Midnights finally released on October 21. However, Swift is currently giving fans at least a glimpse of what to expect from the album, including some of her inspirations behind her music – some of which surprisingly come from the show. Mad Men. The “August” singer also talked about what it’s like to work with Lana Del Rey, who will be featured on this album.
Taylor Swift Injects Crazy Men Into The Midnights
In a series of Instagram videos posted intermittently, Swift showed off some of her new album’s strongest influences. It gave fans insight into his writing process and what to expect from the new album, which many fans say is aesthetically different from his last album. still. In one of her recent videos, the pop star revealed how she came up with the title of the song, “Lavender Haze,” and how the popular Jon Hamm-led AMC show was involved. Swift disclosed:
The singer goes on to explain how the song is about how people outside of a relationship will try to get people out of a lavender haze when lovers try to stay in it. She relates it to her six-year relationship with Joe Alwyn and how the media and tabloids constantly weigh in on their relationship. Alwyn has been a subject for her music in the past and has even contributed to some of Swift’s albums as a songwriter.
who knew Mad Men had such an effect on Swift and her writing? I wonder if the cast knows she’s such a fan! Swift has admittedly been a TV aficionado in the past, even admitting her song Reputation“I Did Something Bad” is partly inspired by game of thrones, proving that not all of his songs are about his relationships. She also named her cats “Olivia” after Olivia Benson on Law and order: SVU, and “Meredith” from Meredith Gray on Grey’s Anatomy. I guess the “Shake it Off” singer’s creative inspiration comes from everywhere, including the small screen.
Working with Lana Del Rey
While “Lavender Haze” was an exciting song for Swifties, it’s not the only track Swift detailed in her Instagram videos. The pop icon also spoke about the album’s fourth track, Snow on the Beach. This song is of particular interest to Swift fans, as it marks her first-ever collaboration with another iconic pop star, Lana Del Rey. Swift couldn’t be more excited to talk about another strong female voice in the pop music world she’s had the pleasure of collaborating with. Swift revealed:
I love that Taylor Swift is just as obsessed with Lana Del Rey as many of us. Lots of Swift’s more ethereal bits out of folklore have been noted as mimicking Del Rey in the way they’re constructed, and Swift has been a fan of the rumors for a long time. I’m so excited to see how these unique sounds intersect. Swift has previously collaborated with other amazing talents like Bon Iver on “Exile” (which was featured on the Netflix show, You) and Phoebe Bridgers on “Nothing New (Taylor Version)”. Both songs are beautiful and capture the artists’ sensibility, so I think “Snow on the Beach” should be equally exquisite.
Midnights will be released on October 21, so it won’t be long before the Swifties hear what their favorite pop princess has been working on and teasing. Plus, Swift is part of the entire David O’Russell cast. amsterdam, which is currently in theaters now.
