Sad news: Today’s former meteorologist Steve Jacobs lost his job at Sydney radio station 2UE
“Sadly, this is my last day to host classical music on 2UE,” Steve wrote, alongside a photo of himself in the broadcast studio.
“The station was leased to another company that changes formats, but I really had a blast, learned so much about music, and improved the ratings 176% since I started.
“A big thank you to everyone who logged in and good luck to the new station for the future. Keep rocking.

‘Going forward’: Former Today meteorologist, 55, confirmed his departure on Instagram on Friday, saying he was fired following a change in management
2UE is a music station owned by Nine Entertainment and broadcasting from Pyrmont.
Steve was hired in April 2020 to host breakfast at 2UE and sister stations 4BH, 6GT and Magic 1278.
This coincided with 2UE’s abandonment of its old conversational and sports formats and a return to an all-musical format “built around the best of the 70s, 80s and 90s”.
Former gig: Steve was the traveling weather presenter of the Today show from 2005 to 2019, but spent most of his senior year on the show as a studio host
In October last year, Nine Radio struck a deal with media company Ace Radio to operate 2UE and other music stations under a rental agreement.
When Ace Radio took control of 2UE on Friday, it relaunched the station with new programming, a new logo and branding, and Steve was one of the victims.
Steve was the traveling weather presenter of the Today show from 2005 to 2019, but spent most of his final year on the program as a studio host.
He was replaced by current meteorologist Tim Davies.
Father: Steve shares daughters Isabella, ten, and Francesca, eight, with ex-wife Rosie Jacobs, whom he separated in 2018
