If you’re an advanced Android user, which means rooting, unlocking the bootloader, installing custom ROMs is your thing then, you may have heard of TWRP.
For those who do not know, TWRP is a personalized recovery that allows you to perform several actions on your phone. In addition to those mentioned above, you can flash modded applications, flash Xposed modules, make a full backup of your phone, delete bloatware from your phone, etc.
In addition, TWRP recovery is quite advanced and has a touch user interface for easy navigation and eliminates the need to use the volume rocker and the power button.
And now, according to a recent report, TWRP recovery based on Android 10 is now unofficially available for Sony Xperia XZ3, Xperia XZ2, XZ2 Premium and Xperia XZ2 Compact smartphones. PiunikaWeb readers should know that other sets of Xperia phones, that is, Xperia 10 and 10 Plus, have official TWRP support.
This decision means that owners of the Xperia XZ3, Xperia XZ2, XZ2 Premium and XZ2 Compact can browse and flash their favorite custom ROMs, modified files, system settings, etc. with the help of TWRP.
However, note that being an unofficial version, it contains some bugs, which are listed below, and you should probably check it out before using TWRP recovery.
Known bugs:
– The “fastboot boot twrp.img” does not work if you use the hardware buttons to open the blue quick boot mode of the boot loader. Use only adb, twrp or the Android system to restart in blue fastboot bootloader mode or flash the twrp.img, start the device, restart in bootloader and flash the original boot.img, before starting in twrp.
– You can also “fastboot reboot bootloader” in blue fastboot mode.
– This is a boot loader bug, maybe it is fixed with the Q stock boot loader.
And if you agree with the above bugs and still want to use this version of TWRP recovery, you can download the appropriate TWRP recovery for your Xperia XZ3, Xperia XZ2, XZ2 Premium and XZ2 Compact and follow the guide below for installation:
