Nicki Minaj is bringing Queen Radio back, but this time it will be on a different platform. The rapper’s radio show – originally broadcast on Apple Music – is set to return to Amp, a new live audio app developed by Amazon.
The app – which is currently invite-only – would allow users to talk to each other and listen to songs from Universal Music Group’s extensive library as well as those from Sony Music Entertainment, Warner Music Group and select independent labels. In addition to the “Seeing Green” femcee, artists like Pusha T, Tinashe, Lil Yachty and Outkast’s Big Boi will have shows on Amp.
The news from Queen Radio comes days after Nicki Minaj revealed an “official announcement” about her radio show was on the way.
“We have a new house. Official announcement to come,” she hinted during an exchange with Joe Budden. “I have to thank Larry Jackson @Apple, for initially putting the idea on my radar and giving me his blessing to explore new avenues for the show. Radio #Queen.
Nicki Minaj has been hard at work since making her musical comeback last month. Within a week, she released two collaborations featuring Lil Baby. The first – “Do we have a problem?” — was accompanied by a video featuring Cory Hardrict and “Power Book IV: Force” star Joseph Sikora. The second song – “Bussin” – has since peaked at number 20 on the Billboard Hot 100. pink friday The star is also in the studio finishing her next album and may well have an on-screen collab with 50 Cent in the works. Now she adds Queen Radio to the list.
Since Amazon announced the launch of its new Amp app, Nicki has been sharing excerpts from the press release on social media. She’ll provide more details about the partnership and “get into the thangz” on an Instagram Live scheduled for 4 p.m. ET today (March 8). “Don’t be late,” she advised the Barbz.
