MacStadium has launched Orka Workspace, an enterprise-grade remote desktop service that lets users access a virtualized macOS desktop on any device.
Unveiled at the 2022 Jamf Nation User Conference, MacStadium’s Orka Workspace is a cloud-hosted macOS desktop for business and enterprise users. Rather than just providing a Mac desktop to work from, Orka Workspace claims to offer high performance and secure desktop access.
Orka Workspace manages the connection and management of the macOS computing environment for its users, on behalf of its customers. Rather than an in-house team within a company tasked with virtualizing macOS or providing physical hardware and dealing with users accessing it remotely, MacStadium’s new offering aims to replace them with a cloud-based solution.
For growing businesses, it also enables scaling of Mac desktop availability, since MacStadium manages the infrastructure. It also allows businesses to mix user operating systems and hardware, especially when working remotely and where the hardware can be very different, by connecting to the same cloud-based environment.
The system relies on dedicated Mac M1 minis, with workspaces created using the latest macOS images. Non-persistent desktops are faster and more secure than persistent versions, with access provided through any modern browser that supports HTML5, as well as support for single sign-on systems and cloud storage. cloud.
“The introduction of Orka Workspace is nothing less than a paradigm shift for professionals working in Mac environments, giving organizations the ability to easily and securely manage user workspaces wherever they go. ‘they’re on any device,’ said Chris Chapman, SVP and CTO of MacStadium.
