Jack Grealish has accepted Graeme Souness’ offer of a night out… but only if he can bring Paul Pogba as his plus one!
Liverpool legend Souness has been back and forth with Grealish in recent days after criticizing his performances for Manchester City on talkSPORT.
During his regular appearance on White and Jordan, Souness described Grealish as a ‘good, but not great’ player and claimed he hadn’t improved since joining City from Aston Villa for £100 million.
Grealish responded to the comments while on duty in England this week, saying Souness appeared to have a problem with him after regularly criticizing him.
Souness then returned and defended his view, giving a lengthy explanation of his reasoning, and warned Grealish that he was 100 per cent correct with his view on former Manchester United midfielder Pogba.
Souness also urged Grealish to be “less valuable”, but ended by saying he would like to spend an evening with the 27-year-old.
And Souness’ offer was endorsed by Grealish on social media, with a cheeky mention of Pogba as well.
Responding to talkSPORT on Twitter, he wrote in response to the offer: “Let’s do it!! As long as I can bring Pogba to +1.
It could well be an entertaining evening with Gareth Southgate telling talkSPORT on Thursday he would also like to join.
“We would all love an evening with Jack, I wouldn’t mind having one with Souey either, so no problem,” joked the England manager.
Southgate, of course, gave a serious answer to talkSPORT reporter Faye Carruthers’ question about Grealish and his recent contributions.
For a while, it looked like Southgate was the one who lacked a bit of confidence in Grealish after making him wait a long time for his England call-up.
But now admits he enjoys working with the City star with the national team.
He added: “He had a difficult start to the season with a few injuries. It was good to see him get to the far post at the weekend and get into the box and score.
“We know he has great creativity. Jack has contributed well for us, we are happy as he is.
“We love working with him, he’s a great kid to have around camp.
“He works at a top club where it’s not easy to fit into the team, let alone perform well.
“I don’t know if he will ever find the level Graeme wants!”
“We’re happy with the contributions for us, but I can’t really speak club-wise because you’re not always 100 per cent sure about the role of individuals, the requirements and what they’re being asked to do with the ball. .
“Of course it’s easy to have an opinion from the outside, which I do with the players. I have to dig a little deeper with the details they are being asked to do.
