“There’s a reason they say ‘for better or for worse'”
Justin and Hailey Bieber are without a doubt one of the most iconic celebrity couples in the world. While they met years ago as teenagers, they got engaged in 2017 and married soon after in 2018.
That said, it hasn’t been an easy year for the couple – both have experienced some pretty extreme health issues. In March, Hailey was rushed to hospital after experiencing what she describes as “stroke-like symptoms,” and months later her partner Justin had to cancel a host of broadcasts after suffering facial paralysis.
Now, for the first time, Hailey has opened up about how “very serious health issues” affected them as a couple, as well as how it affected their marriage, in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar UK.
“I just think life changes all the time. Day to day, week to week, year to year,” she explained, adding that for her, marriage is all about navigating situations like these – situations you can’t prepare for. before you get married. “I think a perfect example of that is that over the past six months we’ve both been through some really serious health issues.”
The 25-year-old continued: “You have to figure out how to deal with this shit as it goes, you know? There’s a reason they say ‘for better or for worse’. Like, it’s for for real!
She explained that she and her husband were as close as when they first met, sweetly adding, “He’s always the person I want to rush to.”
“I could fly somewhere and go to work, but I can’t wait to get back and hang out. And I feel like it’s because of the effort that’s been put in on both sides,” Hailey explained. “At the end of the day, he’s my best friend, but it still takes a lot of work to make it work. And then I know that eventually, when the kids come on the scene, it’s going to be a whole other season to figure out how to do it in so it works.
Hailey’s health scare was caused by a blood clot on her brain, which meant she was suffering from ‘stroke-like symptoms’ and then had to undergo emergency heart surgery in mid- march. She has since described it as the scariest moment of her life.
Justin, meanwhile, was diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt Syndrome in June. Posting on Instagram, he explained, “It was because of this virus attacking the nerve in my ear, my facial nerves and caused paralysis in my face. As you can see, this eye is not blinking. I can’t smile on this side of my face. This nostril is not moving, so there is complete paralysis on this side of my face.
I wish good luck to the couple.
