With schools in many places in the United States, teachers and parents are looking for alternative ways to keep students busy. Now, the coronavirus pandemic has propelled Google Classroom to 50 million downloads on Android and the # 1 educational app on Android and iOS.
Google Classroom has been around for a while at this point, but the free service hasn’t been particularly popular. However, this is rapidly changing in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. According to AppBrain (via Android Police), a service that tracks the popularity of apps over time, noted that the Classroom app was not even in the top 100 educational apps at the start of March.
Since March 10, Google Classroom has seen a huge spike in the top 5 of the educational catalog of the Play Store in the United States. In Mexico, Canada, Finland, Italy, Indonesia and Poland, the app has also been enhanced with more popularity.
For the Google Classroom app, there are 50 million downloads left on the Play Store, a milestone for any app. The app is also the # 1 education app on Android when it comes to free apps.
Apple doesn’t have a tally for the Classroom app on iOS, but the app has also exploded in popularity. Classroom is currently the most popular educational app on the App Store.
Zooming has also been a popular way for many teachers to maintain school curricula with schools – much to the dismay of app evaluation. Fortunately, the Android app did not experience the same problems with regard to reviews, as it is rated 3.9 / 5 stars.
Classroom is a free service for schools, non-profit organizations, and anyone with a personal Google Account. The classroom facilitates the connection of learners and instructors, inside and outside schools. The classroom saves time and paper and facilitates class creation, homework distribution, communication and good organization.
Teachers can add students directly or share a code with their class to join. The configuration takes only a few minutes. Like the rest of G Suite for Education services, Classroom contains no ads, never uses your content or student data for advertising, and is free.
