From the rise of remote working to constant innovations in emerging technologies, the breakneck pace of global disruption is driving Asia-Pacific’s digital growth. Take for example the Internet economy in Southeast Asia, which is expected to double to $363 billion by 2025. This has created a clear opportunity for businesses to take advantage of this wave of digitalization to seize new greatest opportunities for growth, as long as they play their cards right.
“The number of companies that have a digital transformation strategy has increased by 42% compared to two years ago,” said Ryan Ding, President of Huawei Enterprise BG, “Direct business investment in digital transformation is expected to increase by 16.5% per year in 2022 for 2024. Deeper digital transformation can help companies better cope with uncertainty.

“We are entering the fourth industrial revolution, where menial office tasks will be performed by machines. The enormous potential of AI in work will play a vital role in creating wealth,” said Bob Chen, Vice President of Huawei Enterprise BG. “Harnessing this potential will be essential for a company to remain competitive and for a country to develop its digital economy.
Deepen digital transformation through a scenario-based approach
That’s why, as digitalization continues to sweep the region, industry leaders are looking to leverage cutting-edge technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI), 5G and cloud, to bolster their efforts. of digital transformation. But this requires a significant move away from a one-size-fits-all approach to the adoption of new innovations. Instead, companies should identify which technologies are best suited for specific scenarios, even if that means leveraging multiple solutions to meet their exact needs. This is essential to drive continuous, long-term innovation.
For Ryan Ding, identifying what those needs are can lead to substantial results. “Using Huawei’s connectivity and cloud technologies, we work with our partners to drive continuous industry innovation and multi-technology synergy, creating scenario-based solutions for diverse customer needs. Together , we will create more value and unleash the power of digital”
“Previously, power line inspectors had to walk tens of kilometers a day with 10 kg backpacks. In a power grid, their engineers inspect almost a million miles of power lines every year, which is the equivalent of walking around the earth 25 times,” he says. “To support their work, Huawei uses a combination of technologies, including solar-powered systems, optical ground wires, microwaves and Wi-Fi. Now engineers can inspect power lines remotely without leaving the desk. Thanks to these technologies, power line inspection is 80 times faster and engineers can work safely.
At the same time, data remains at the heart of digital transformation and the fuel of any technology adoption strategy. If data is the new oil, then the 100 exabytes of data that are generated daily must be refined, before they can fuel digitization efforts. In other words, data must be collected, transmitted, stored, analyzed and processed before it can be used. Moreover, any improvement to this data processing cycle, no matter how small, can go a long way in helping businesses unlock new opportunities.
This philosophy is the cornerstone of Huawei’s approach to digital transformation. “Data is at the heart of digital transformation, and data ingestion, transmission, storage and analysis are key steps,” Chen says. “Huawei provides comprehensive data collection, transmission, storage, computation and analysis solutions to effectively support end-to-end closed-loop data processing.

By combining both data and scenario-based technologies, traditional industries can also realize their digital transformation initiatives. An example is the marine logistics and global supply chain industries, which are now adopting Fifth Generation Fixed Network (F5G) compatible ship-to-shore cranes to free operators from time-consuming manual tasks. Electrical and energy engineers can also inspect power lines without endangering their lives, while carrying out their responsibilities more efficiently than before. Then there are smart solutions, which can be applied in compute-intensive scenarios, such as medical image processing and playback, as well as network traffic security in tunneling protocols, which can improve key features, such as predictive capabilities and deep learning techniques.

Partnership is a key ingredient for growth
Digital technology may have redefined how industries operate, but the digital growth journey should not be undertaken alone. Instead, partnerships are key to building a collaborative ecosystem that thrives on shared success, with businesses able to leverage a diversity of services at their disposal.
To better support businesses, Huawei is working with its partners to develop three capabilities: consulting and planning around digital transformation, product and portfolio expertise, and solution development. “Huawei provides support to our partners with enablement, platforms, funding and talent. Over the next three years, we will invest $300 million to support our partners and nurture more talent through our ICT academies and our Huawei Authorized Learning Partners,” says Ding.
Enable new business models with data
More than just technical innovation, digital technologies have the ability to unlock the hidden potential of organizations across all industries. This can lead to growth in several aspects of their business, from better employee confidence to higher customer satisfaction. So, by examining the unique requirements of their most complex scenarios and processes, businesses can discover the right solution to today’s rapidly changing disruptions.
These topics and more will be discussed at Huawei Connect 2022. Under the theme “Unleash Digital”, the annual event took place in Bangkok on September 19 and will visit three other cities in Dubai, Paris and Shenzhen. Several ICT products, portfolios and solutions designed to meet a variety of industrial scenarios will be presented. Through a series of summits, shows and exhibitions, there will be insights into groundbreaking new innovations, as well as best practices and results from our work with customers and partners around the world.
“Deeper digital transformation will help businesses better adapt to an ever-changing world. Huawei works closely with our partners to find the right technology for the right scenario,” says Ryan Ding, “we will help customers continue their digital transformation and unleash the power of digital.”
