European stock markets mostly closed in negative territory on Wednesday as industrial production posted a decline in October.
The STOXX Europe 600, which accounts for around 90% of European market capitalization in 17 countries, fell 0.09 points, or 0.02%, to 442.51.
Britain’s FTSE 100 fell nearly 7 points, or 0.1%, to close at 7,495. Germany’s DAX 30 fell 37 points, or 0.26%, to end the session at 14,460.
France’s CAC 40 fell 14 points, or 0.21%, to end the week’s third trading day at 6,730.
Italy’s FTSE MIB fell 63 points, or 0.26%, to 24,573 at the closing bell.
Spain’s IBEX 35, on the other hand, gained 32 points, or 0.4%, to 8,360.
Industrial production fell 2% in the eurozone and 1.9% in the EU in October from the previous month, according to Eurostat estimates released earlier.
On an annual basis, however, industrial production increased by 3.4% in the euro zone and 3.7% in the EU, the EU statistical office said.
