After two weeks atop the UK Albums Chart, Taylor Swift’s golden run could be overturned by Drake and 21 Savage.
The hip-hop couple topped the UK midweek chart with His loss (via OVO/Republic Records), their first collaborative collection.
If he holds his position, His loss will become Drake’s fifth leader, after Views (from 2016), Scorpio (2018), Dark Lane demo tapes (2020), and Certified Lover (2021) and the first from Savage.
Swift 10e and last album Midnights (EMI) plunges 1-2 on the official chart update, after a two-week stint at the top. Although nothing is certain as the race enters the second half. Swift, meanwhile, is on her way to a third consecutive week atop the Official UK Albums Chart with ‘Anti-Hero’, which tops the midweek survey.
Further down the album chart, Swedish folk duo First Aid Kit are aiming for third place with palomino (Columbia), their fifth studio album. If he stays his course, palomino will give the act (Johanna and Sara Söderberg) a second effort in the top 5, after that of 2018 Ruins peaked at No. 3.
Close behind is Welsh artist Luke Evans’ A song for you (BMG), new at No. 4 in the midweek survey, for what would be a career-best position.
The top 5 of the chart is completed by the third album of Prodigy The fat of the earth (XL Recordings), which is reissued to celebrate its 25e anniversary. The set, which yielded the hits ‘Breathe’, ‘Firestarter’ and ‘Smack My B**** Up’ reached number 1 on both sides of the Atlantic after its original release in 1997.
Veteran Irish crooner Daniel O’Donnell could land his 20th top 10 album with I wish you good (DMG TV), new to No. 6 in the midweek survey, while Japanese-Australian singer and songwriter Joji (real name George Kosunoki Miller) could clinch his second top 10, with Parts (12Tone Music) is looking at a #8 bow.
Finally, Girl Power is back, like the 1997 Spice Girls album spice world (UMR/Virgin) caused a stir on the midweek chart at No. 12. The pop group’s second album debuted at No. 1 after its initial release, and is enjoying a boost thanks to the release of a 25e Anniversary edition.
All will be revealed when the official UK albums chart is released on Friday evening (November 11).
