Cristiano Ronaldo was in tears as he sang the Portuguese national anthem ahead of their clash with Ghana.
The Portugal captain was making his first appearance since mutually agreeing to end his contract with Manchester United on Tuesday.
The free agent endured a turbulent few weeks after his explosive interview with Piers Morgan where he slammed Manchester United, manager Erik ten Hag and club owner the Glazers.
There is no indication yet of where Ronaldo will be playing his club football in the new year, but for now his whole aim is to add the World Cup to the winners’ medal. of the European Championship which he won with Portugal in 2016.
And that focus seemed to have spread as a teary-eyed Ronaldo sang Portugal’s national anthem moments before kick-off against Ghana.
Ronaldo was seen clapping all the mascots ahead of the anthem, showing he still has his caring side despite a period of turmoil.
