Billie Eilish had a blast Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Wednesday night (October 13), where she ticked off some very important items from her childhood bucket list, got some sweet, sweet hard-hitting revenge on the host, and performed the title track from her new album, happier than ever.
The day when the old star trek Star William Shatner has become the oldest person to be blasted into space, Eilish told Kimmel she would “literally rather do something else” than leave the confines of Mother Earth. “No interest,” she said, recalling her mother sharing a very random email from a friend’s mother asking if Billie would ever like to go into space and sing. Hard no. “Why would you ask me that?”
Eilish also revealed a super interesting tidbit to her Grammy-winning song from Daniel Craig’s latest James Bond movie, no time to dietelling Kimmel that long before she and her brother/producer Finneas got the honor, they used to have a very interesting Bond-related songwriting challenge.
“I knew them all because I’ve loved Bond forever, as has all my family,” the singer said of her extensive knowledge of Bond movie history and themes from Adele, Paul McCartney, Carly Simon . and much more. “Years before the Bond song, our song was going to be anything…was even a talking point for us, we’d do it as a songwriting exercise, me and my brother,” she said. said of their challenge to write something that felt “Bond-esque.
She also said that after directing two documentaries, she is very interested in cinema and would like to go deeper. “I want to do something in the world,” said the veteran of Billie Eilish: The world is a bit blurry and Happier Than Ever: A Love Letter to Los Angeles. “I love…the cinematography is just something that I really admire. I wouldn’t necessarily want to act, but if something happened that felt good to me, yeah…who knows?
Kimmel pulled a photocopy of a page from Eilish’s book and went through the list of items on her childhood bucket list, which included meeting idol Justin Bieber (check), getting kicked out of a target, zipline over a city (check), grow your hair up to your ass, get your hair done (check), hit someone, take a mouse, ride a dolphin, cut someone’s hair ‘one, “to win the game” (check), work with animals (check), go to Paris (check) and a big shopping spree (check).
All in all, she did pretty well, so Kimmel tried to help her check out a few more things by inviting an audience superfan named Griselda onstage to get some admittedly terrible bangs from Billie. He also allowed the singer to get justice for that time he teased her for not knowing anything about Van Halen by letting her punch him in the stomach.
With the gift of an adorable mouse she named “Marcus” and a fake ejection from an imaginary Target store, Kimmel pretty much got her wishes granted. Eilish later returned to perform “Happier Than Ever” on the rooftop of Hollywood’s Roosevelt Hotel, joined by Finneas on acoustic guitar for the opening act and electric for the song’s sped-up ending.
