Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster told talkSPORT that he had NO CONTACT from any other team about a possible free transfer this summer, amid reports that Tottenham was looking for him.
According to recent rumors, Jose Mourinho has identified Foster as a prime target to compete against Hugo Lloris for first place from the Spurs, thanks to his good form this season.
The 36-year-old was one of the Premier League’s best-performing goalkeepers, keeping nine clean sheets for Watford this quarter – tied for third with Ederson of Manchester City, Kasper Schmeichel of Leicester City and Nick Pope of Burnley .
One of those clean sheets came against Liverpool on Saturday as Watford inflicted their first Premier League loss of the season to the Reds and ended their hopes for an “Invincible” campaign.
Foster no longer has a contract with the Hornets at the end of the season and, although there is an option for a one-year extension at Vicarage Road, Foster revealed that he had not yet had any offer to stay at the club beyond this campaign.
However, he insisted that he does NOT “pick me up” in other clubs and says he enjoys life in Watford.
Foster joined White and Sawyer on Monday afternoon, just after helping to stop Liverpool’s undefeated run, and when asked about the Spurs’ ties, he replied, “This is a complete paper conversation.
“But I’m without a contract this summer.
“There is nothing yet [a new contract offer from Watford] but it’s not something that I really think too much about.
“This is the first time in my career that I have been out of contract at the end of the season, and I’m not sure what to make of it.
“I appreciate it, not because I’m trying to leave Watford, it’s not even an option and I can categorically say that I didn’t have any contact form for someone else, but I think that it opens up your options and gives you a little bit of freedom.
“I’m usually very laid back about things, and if I start to get bored or frustrated that I’m not offered a new contract, it just won’t help, it won’t help me.
“So that’s what it is.
“I’m not trying to leave Watford, I really like my football, honestly – I didn’t come for that!”
