Drew Taylor of The envelope wrote that he was “overwhelmed” by The water path“The technical mastery and surprisingly intimate emotional reach. Vultureit is Wedge Ebiri said it was “Cameron’s sweetest, sweetest, most personal film ever.” Maybe even his most emotional. He revisits all of his greatest hits, but it’s still totally heartfelt. Ebiri added: “He will never leave Pandora. He loves this family.
“[It’s] an Avatar movie: slow start, big build, incredibly involving second act with a ton of world building and cool creatures to keep you happy, then an hour of emotionally sharp and crystal clear action to send you home full and happy,” he tweeted. There are a few reviews to be found amid the flattering praise. Story-wise, Machado wrote that the film “is just….dance with wolves and Save Willy for Generation Z! The long runtime was noted by several audience members (it “seems stretched to 3 hours and 10 minutes”, producer and reviewer Scott Mantz noted), while Empireit is Amun Warman tweeted that “a lot of storylines feel like they have to stop and start again, and the high frame rate was hit or miss for me.” Even in a largely positive reaction, Uproxxit is mike ryan joked that the film was “[maybe] too overwhelming,” because “Sometimes I would miss plot points because I was looking at a Pandora fish.
