ArchiCAD is one of the most popular BIM CAD software developed by Graphisoft. With the first iteration of the product released in 1987, it was one of the first versions of any BIM software.
It is also the first software capable of creating both 2D and 3D geometry. With over 120,000 users worldwide, the latest version of the software is ArchiCAD 25.
That being said, it is fairly stable software with bugs and issues appearing infrequently. But as with all software on the market, some users are reporting an issue with the Save and Open dialog box on ArchiCAD 25 running on macOS Monterey.
Since people save their files often, the save dialog is one of the most important aspects of the user interface. Users say the floating screen takes up the entire screen, which is really annoying if you’re multitasking.
In some cases, ArchiCAD 25’s save and open dialog is wider than the width of the screen, making it unusable for many. Also, they cannot resize it to the specified size. You can see for yourself what it looks like in the image below.
Any floating screen that has to do with locating or assigning files (save as, open) appears to be very large, occupying several times the size of the monitor, with no possibility of reducing its size. AC25 is reinstalled. I am working on MacOS Monterey. i would appreciate some help

The Save, Open, Place, and most other dialogs are about 3 times the size of my screen and cannot be resized small, but can be ridiculously larger. It must be a bug. There seems to have been a similar AC19 issue with Windows 10 Please help

Users are frustrated with the bug because the issue has hampered their productivity a lot. It turns out that Graphisoft is aware of the ArchiCAD 25 bug where users cannot resize the open and save dialog.
The company even advises users not to upgrade to ArchiCAD 25 until they fix the bug.
Fortunately, if you are someone who has already upgraded, there is a workaround that might come in handy. However, be aware that this involves the use of a terminal.
The first step is to find the bundle identifier, which in this case is “com.graphisoft.archicad25”. When you’re done searching, enter Terminal and navigate to the “/ Applications / Utilities” folder.
Once done, simply enter the commands below into the terminal
– defaults remove com.graphisoft.archicad25 NSNavPanelExpandedSizeForSaveMode
– defaults remove com.graphisoft.archicad25 NSNavPanelExpandedSizeForOpenMode
This will fix the open and save dialog if you are running ArchiCAD 25 on macOS Monterey. If and when Graphisoft releases an update that fixes ArchiCAD 25’s save dialog, we’ll update this article, so be sure to stay tuned for updates.
In the meantime, let us know if the workaround fixed the issue for you by sharing your experience in the comments section below.
