VAR came to the rescue of Arsenal late as they snatched a 1-0 win over West Ham to keep alive their slim hope of finishing in the top four.
Alexandre Lacazette clung to a square ball in the 78th minute but Mesut Ozil was first judged offside in preparation.
However, after a long check, VAR decided that Ozil was marginally at stake, awarding the Gunners three invaluable points.
They are five points closer to fourth place for Chelsea, who will face Everton tomorrow, after sealing a third consecutive high-flying victory for the first time since August last year.
However, Sheffield United could be the one to catch after sealing another win with a 1-0 win over Norwich.
The head of Billy Sharp in the first half was enough to move the Blades within two points of the first four.
But the Wolves missed the opportunity to move Chelsea to fourth place with a goalless draw at home against Brighton.
Elsewhere, VAR played its role earlier at Anfield as Liverpool defeated Bournemouth 2-1, and it also stole the show in Newcastle as the Magpies finally scored in their 1-0 victory at Southampton.
The Magpies ended a four-game scoreless Premier League streak as Allan Saint-Maximin scored a predatory goal late in the day.
But before that, Saints forward Moussa Djenepo was sent off for a late challenge after a VAR exam and Newcastle saw Matt Ritchie’s penalty awarded to VAR saved.
Meanwhile, Watford failed to follow his exploits against Liverpool last week and fell to a 1-0 defeat at Crystal Palace.
Jordan Ayew stunned in the first period to keep the Eagles out of the relegation zone.
