HOLLADAY – Davis, Fremont and Layton basketball teams have been the best dogs in 6A throughout the season, fighting closely throughout the regional game, then throughout the playoffs, Fremont winning the title from the state on Davis last weekend.
On Friday, five players from these three Region 1 teams shared the field together at the Utah Basketball Coaches Association senior all-star games at Olympus High School – and unsurprisingly led their team to victory.
With Baylor Harrop de Fremont leading with 26 points, the 6A All-Stars moved away from the 5A All-Stars in the second period for the victory of 133-127.
Skyridge’s Trevon Snoddy added 19 points for 6A, giving 26 3 points.
Andre Mulibea of East and Will Harris of Wasatch each scored 30 points to lead the 5A team, making 30 3-pointers. Harris represented eight of these three pointers, including five in the fourth quarter as he attempted a successful 5A rally.
In the second match of the day at Olympus, the 3A All-Stars managed a slight upheaval by moving away from the 4A All-Stars in overtime for the 94-89 victory.
The 3A All-Stars had a chance to win in regulation time but missed a shot two seconds from the end. In overtime, Kevin Clark of Manti and Jordan Ekker of Emery both scored 3 points while 3A took control of the match.
Judge Deng Mayar led the way at 3A with 18 points, Josh Thalman and Clark of Richfield each adding 14 points.
In the loss, Trevor Farrow of Canyon View led all the scorers with 20 points.
In the first game of the day, the Class 2A All-Stars dominated the second half on the road to an easy victory 113-86.
The 1A All-Stars, behind a 24 point high from Jordan Lucio de Wendover, led 41-31 at halftime. In the second half, however, the 2A team dominated 1A 82-46 to back off for a comfortable victory.
Isaiah Adams of Rowland Hall led 2A with 22 points, one of six 2A players to score double-digit.
