- A study of relationships of more than 2,000 people suggests that Android users may be better partners than iPhone users.
- The study shows that Android users are less likely to have boring phone habits that could irritate their partners.
- However, a previous study found that iPhone users are more likely to get dates than Android users.
Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, so a lot of people have relationships in mind. The folks at Compare My Mobile decided to use this energy to research the intersection of romance and technology.
The site conducted a survey of just over 2,000 people. The study asked about boring phone habits and how these habits can irritate romantic partners. The relationship study strongly suggests that, overall, Android users are less prone to these annoying habits than iPhone users. As such, it’s safe to say that Android fans can be better partners than iPhone fans.
Android vs iPhone relationship study
Below, you’ll find a graph that details some of the study’s findings. The first column is filled with bad smartphone habits. The next two columns show the likelihood of iPhone and Android users adopting this bad habit. The last column shows the difference between iPhone and Android. Since these are bad habits, the lower the percentage is the better:
Surprisingly, the bad habit that irritated people the most was using a phone during a TV show or movie. This is even higher than not responding to text messages or even liking others’ steamy social media posts. The study shows that iPhone users have a 75% chance of being on their phone during a movie, compared to 59% for Android users. Honestly, we have to get that down to 0%, folks. How hard is it not to look at your phone for 90 minutes ?!

Here is another relationship study chart. This time we see the numbers broken down by gender. Bad habits are also common with the relationship faux pas that people hate most above and the one they hate least below.
Overall, it’s hard to argue with these numbers. While Android users are certainly not immune to temptation when it comes to these bad phone habits, they are much better at avoiding them than iPhone users across categories.
Unfortunately, not all of this is good news for Android users. Last year, Compare My Mobile conducted another relationship study which found that iPhone users are more likely to get dates than Android users. I guess this shows that it may be harder for an Android user to find a mate, but once they do, they’re more likely to hang on to it.
