Xbox and Samsung have officially joined forces with Fortnite and the Xbox app, which will allow gamers to play on a Smart TV with any Bluetooth controller, transforming a normally confined console experience into a mobile, shareable experience with games like Fortnite, the newest chapter of which was presented by gaming legend Ninja at The Game Awards 2022.
The Xbox app is available through the Samsung Gaming Hub on most Samsung smart TVs, eliminating the need for a game console or clumsy bundles of wires. With the Xbox app connected to a Samsung Smart TV, gamers will be able to connect a Bluetooth controller to the TV and play without having to load a disc into a console, which gaming expert Ninja showed off in a TGA-exclusive video clip 2022.

Ninja, whose legal name is Richard Tyler Blevins, is a gaming streamer and YouTuber with over 18 million subscribers on Twitch who has also played Halo 3 and Fortnite Battle Royale competitively. In an exclusive video for TGA 2022, Ninja showed off the new compatibility between the Xbox app and Samsung Gaming Hub as he explored Fortnite’s latest chapter on his TV, exploring the island’s new locations and vehicles, according to a release from Samsung press.
“I always get excited when a new season of Fortnite comes out because it’s the only time all players are on the same level, nobody knows what’s going to happen,” Ninja said in the video. “And being able to play on my Samsung Smart TV through the Xbox app without a console was next level. Honestly, I can’t think of an easier way to pick up a controller and start playing.
Fortnite, which runs on Unreal Engine 5.1, will be available on all 2021 Samsung smart TVs, along with a ton of other games under Xbox Game Pass, as the collaboration between Xbox and Samsung rolls out. Samsung reports that existing Samsung customers will have access to the same games available through the Samsung Gaming Hub on 2022 smart TVs and monitors by expanding the Gaming Hub to select 2021 Samsung smart TVs.
