The company acknowledged on its health dashboard that Windows devices with update KB5036893, released on April 9, or the insecure April 2024 update, “may experience VPN connection failures,” adding that it was working on a fix, which will be rolled out in a future release.
The issue affects various versions of Windows 11 and Windows 10, specifically Windows 11 version 23H2, Windows 11 version 22H2, Windows 11 version 21H2, Windows 10 version 22H2, and Windows 10 version 21H2, according to Microsoft.

The company did not provide additional information about the cause of the VPN connection issue or its potential scope. However, if you are a VPN user and have the update installed on your Windows device running one of the affected software versions, you should assume that your VPN connections could be at risk.
