What there is to know
The Arizona Cardinals will once again host and host the Los Angeles Chargers at State Farm Stadium, where kickoff is scheduled for 4:05 p.m. ET Sunday. Both teams suffered a loss in their last game, so they will have plenty of motivation to get the “W”.
Looks like Arizona got the smaller half of the triangle at Thanksgiving dinner. Things couldn’t have been much worse for them as they lost 38-10 to the San Francisco 49ers last Monday. The Cardinals were down 31-10 late in the third quarter, which was just too hard to recover from. QB Colt McCoy had a pretty forgettable game, throwing an interception. McCoy ended up with a passer rating of 118.60.
Los Angeles lost a heartbreak to the Kansas City Chiefs when they met in September, and they came away with a heavy heart last week. The Chargers fell to a 30-27 heartbreaker. Los Angeles’ loss came despite a quality game from WR Josh Palmer, who caught eight passes for two touchdowns and 106 yards. One of the most exciting moments was Palmer’s 50-yard TD reception down the left side of the field in the first quarter.
The Cardinals are expected to lose the next by 3. Their home turf hasn’t been a bettor’s paradise, as they’ve failed to beat the spread in four of their six home games.
Arizona is now 4-7 while the Chargers are 5-5. A few defensive numbers to keep in mind heading into kickoff: Arizona stumbles into the contest with the second-most touchdowns allowed in the NFL, after giving up 34 this season. Los Angeles has had its own struggles as it is third worst in the league in rushing yards allowed per game, averaging 148.4. It’s possible that one of those Achilles heels will end up tripping up the losing team.
