The fan base has always worried about whether Spider-Man would stay in the MCU due to the contentious issue of his rights. Since Sony launched its own weird franchise – Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (SSU), which currently lacks Spider-Man – some expect it to be there by the end of Spider-Man: No Coming Home.
It wasn’t and for now it looks like it will continue in the MCU. Fans are now hoping for a fourth movie to be announced, along with the inclusion of other iconic Spider-Man characters currently owned by Sony. In particular, these heroes and villains should soon make their way into the MCU, whether in Spiderman 4 or even in their own project.
Spider-man (Miles Morales)
Since Peter Parker first appeared in Captain America: Civil War trailer, many fans asked for one thing next – Miles Morales. The young hero was presented only in 2011, and even before Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, he was highly desired for the MCU. Above all, it is already linked to the universe as in Spider-Man: Homecominghis uncle, Aaron Davis, played by Donald Glover, referenced him.
In the time that has passed in-universe since that moment, it’s already been nearly a decade, making Miles perfectly aged for his live-action debut. Of course, the ideal place would be right away in Spiderman 4because Peter might need new friends and allies now that everyone has forgotten he exists.
Spider Woman (Jessica Drew)
Some characters clearly belong to the Spider-Family but do not share their origins with Peter Parker. One such character is Jessica Drew AKA Spider-Woman. She’s a classic Marvel character and one of the main Avengers that has yet to appear in the MCU. Given her role in the comic arc, many speculate that Emilia Clarke will play her – or at least Queen Veranke will use her face – in Secret Invasion.
When she arrives, she can join the ranks of Black Widow and Nick Fury as one of the MCU’s top spies if they keep her origins as a former HYDRA agent intact. Her introduction might also help integrate the other Spider-Women and Spider-Girls.
Ghost Spider (Gwen Stacy)
Like Miles Morales, the door is wide open to introduce an important ally and love partner of Peter Parker, Gwen Stacy. She could come into play either on the other side of the multiverse or as herself on Earth-616, as her superhero counterpart, Ghost Spider.
Such a story could explore their relationship, and with its powers, it would be different from what has been presented previously. The caveat is that while Peter and Gwen work well together, many fans don’t really want Peter and MJ to break up, and it doesn’t seem likely that he’ll be done with his feelings for MJ anytime soon.
Black Cat (Felicia Hardy)
Spider-Man: No Coming Home almost did what Sony wanted for a long time – to bring the Sinister Six to live action. Along with Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, Electro, the Lizard, and Sandman, they came to six. However, Tom Hardy’s Venom could technically complete the group. Nonetheless, it crosses several names off the list of potential future villains. One of the best prospects for this assembly of characters is Felicia Hardy AKA Black Cat.
She is the analog of Catwoman from Marvel Comics and has acted as both villain and heroine. Like Gwen Stacy, she would be a good option for a romantic partner for Peter in a future film.
Silver marten (Silvija Sablinova)
If Black Cat comes into play, so does his longtime partner, Silver Sable. Like Black Cat, she’s more of an anti-hero, thanks to her job as a mercenary and hitman.
Silver Sable would be an interesting addition to the MCU and Spider-Man story as it would introduce another international character. With Black Widow, moon knightand Ms. Marvel, the scope of heroism in the MCU isn’t uniquely American or based in the cosmos. She might even come into play with other wild pack mercenaries.
Silk (Cindy Moon)
Over the past decade, the Spider-Family has grown exponentially, and one of the most important members is Silk. Cindy Moon was actually bitten by the same spider that bit Peter, but unlike him, she creates an organic web. Cindy has actually appeared in the MCU before, as Peter’s classmate before the Blip, played by Tiffany Epensen, but she obviously didn’t have her powers.
She could be an interesting new ally, especially if they delve into her backstory – something that might have happened during the Blip – but like Black Cat and Silver Sable, Sony has plans for her. She could be one of the main heroes of Sony’s Spider-Man universe as Silk The TV show is supposedly still in the works for Amazon Prime Video, and it’s going to appear in the next few spider worms movies too.
The Rose (Richard Fisk)
One of the most exciting parts of Phase Four so far has been the reincorporation of Marvel Television bringing back both Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio from daredevil. They already have a busy future on Disney+ with She-Hulk: Lawyer, Echoand finally Daredevil: Born Again. Therefore, the opportunity has come to introduce more Kingpin-related characters, including his son, Richard Fisk.
The Rose could work very well in the ongoing Daredevil story. He doesn’t follow in his father’s footsteps, even going so far as to try to kill him and become a violent anti-hero afterwards. Kingpin and Vanessa had no children. daredevilbut since Daredevil: Born Again isn’t a full revival, her family history could be changed to bring in her son.
Mr. Negative (Martin Li)
While the MCU Spider Man movies have gone through their fair share of iconic Spider-Man villains, there’s still plenty to incorporate. One of the best options would be Mister Negative. He also served as the antagonist to the Punisher and the Cloak and Dagger, so introducing him could also be a way to bring them into the fold. Many will remember him from Marvel’s Spiderman as one of the main antagonists.
He’s already had a connection to the MCU since Spider-Man: No Coming Home, Aunt May worked for FEAST, the community organization created by Martin Li aka Mister Negative. Bringing him in would also entail some serious character development, as Spider-Man is forced to face his own inner demons.
Silvermane (Silvio Manfredi)
Another good thing about having characters like Daredevil, Kingpin, She-Hulk and soon to be Wonder Man in the MCU is that in some way they are all tied to the Maggia, one of the major crime syndicates in comics. They played a limited role in Agent Carterbut nothing really in the modern era and there are a lot of members who could come into play whether they belong to Sony or not, like Silvio Manfredi AKA Silvermane.
He is a crime boss and possible rival to Kingpin, who comes into conflict with Spider-Man on several occasions. What sets him apart, and it would be intriguing to see the MCU handle, is that he becomes a cyborg villain later in life. Silvermane along with Hammerhead, Tombstone, and/or Count Nefaria all should come into play as more street-level stories are told.
Specter (Yuri Watanabe)
Yuri Watanabe was once a police officer in New York, but she’s become disillusioned with how the department handles things, especially all the things the rich can get away with. She leaves the force and becomes the vigilante, Wraith, demanding her own form of justice.
They’d probably want to introduce her as a cop first and show that evolution over an entire season, rather than just having her appear as a costumed vigilante already. However, there is something exciting about bringing it. She tends to use different gear from different villains, which could be a fun way for the MCU to show how their weapons or technology can be used differently.
