A week ago, the bottom of the list was stuffed with players who were perhaps unconvincing. The rookies rose to the occasion in Week 3 and made compiling the roster challenging and competitive. There were some very good players who failed and these will be discussed before the actual list.
Seahawks cornerback Tariq Woolen looked fantastic in zone and man coverage on Sunday. He baited Falcons quarterback Marcus Mariota on a pitch and intercepted a pass intended for Drake London. Jets edge rusher Jermaine Johnson II was destructive against the Bengals. He may not have delivered the big game, but was effective in the running game and nearly increased his sack stats. Jets running back Breece Hall has been a problem for Cincinnati in the passing game. Lions linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez continues to be consistent. Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs has earned Aaron Rodgers’ trust with an impeccable run. Green Bay brought him keys. The Saints used wide receiver Chris Olave as a deep threat in the first two games, then kept him as a bottom option in Week 3. Pass catchers can be used in multiple roles in the same game , New Orleans. Finally, the Bears have two good young defensemen in point rusher Dominique Robinson and safety Jaquan Brisker. Brisker was always a playmaker but played a cleaner game when it came to missed tackles.
These rankings are not based on statistical performance but rather on overall play. Without further ado, here’s the cumulative regular season rookie standings after the Week 3 action:
