Justin Bieber remains positive after revealing to fans last week that half of his face was paralyzed due to a medical condition.
The “Yummy” singer, 28, revealed on Instagram on Friday that he has Ramsay Hunt syndrome, a neurological disorder characterized by paralysis of the facial nerve.
According to the Mayo Clinic, the syndrome is more common in people over 60 and is triggered by the same virus that causes chickenpox and shingles.
Bieber gave a health update on his Instagram Story on Sunday with a hopeful and spiritual message about his recovery.
“Each day has gotten better and through all the discomfort I have found comfort in the one who conceived me and who knows me,” Bieber wrote. “This perspective has given me peace during this horrible storm I am facing. I know this storm will pass but until then Jesus is with me.”
The musical artist’s medical condition led him to cancel Justice World Tour shows in Toronto and New York, which he said he was “not physically able” to do. Here’s everything we know about Ramsay Hunt Syndrome and Justin Bieber’s recovery.

What did Hailey Bieber say about Justin Bieber’s recovery?
During an appearance on “Good Morning America” Wednesday, Bieber’s wife, Hailey takes stock of her husband’s health.
“He’s doing great. He’s getting better every day,” Hailey said. “He’s feeling a lot better and obviously it was just a very scary and random situation, but he’ll be fine.”
The 25-year-old said the outpouring of support for Bieber “has been truly amazing”.
“Each person sent well wishes, advice, recommendations. It’s actually really amazing,” Hailey added. “I’m just grateful he’s okay.”
Hailey also opened up about the impact Justin’s diagnosis has had on their relationship during an appearance on “Live with Kelly and Ryan” on Wednesday. The model, who suffered a “mini-stroke” in early March, said their mutual health issues had strengthened their bond as a couple.
“He slept with me in the hospital when I went through my situation,” Hailey recalled. “The silver lining in the whole situation – what I’ve been through, what he’s been through – is that it really connects you. I feel like we’re closer than ever, so I’m going to remove that.”
When will Justin Bieber’s concerts resume?
Due to Bieber’s medical condition, the Justice World Tour shows scheduled for June 13 and 14 in New York City have been postponed.

The singer is still scheduled to attend Thursday’s concert in Philadelphia as well as Friday’s show in Uncasville, Connecticut.
Will Justin Bieber make a full recovery?
According to the Mount Sinai Health System, a person’s chances of recovery are best if they begin treatment within three days of the onset of symptoms. In Friday’s video of Bieber, he said his face would “return to normal.”
‘It’s not that’:Justin Bieber reveals he has Ramsay Hunt syndrome, face half paralyzed:
“I do all these facial exercises to get my face back to normal,” he said. “It’s just time, and we don’t know how long it’s going to take, but it’s going to be okay. And I have hope, and I have faith in God, and I have faith in that. .. it’s for a reason.”
What is Ramsay Hunt Syndrome?
“I have this syndrome called Ramsay Hunt syndrome, and it’s because of this virus attacking the nerve in my ear and my facial nerves and causing paralysis in my face,” Bieber said in the video.
Ramsay Hunt syndrome, also called otic shingles and Ramsay Hunt syndrome type II, occurs “when an outbreak of shingles affects the facial nerve near one of your ears,” according to the Mayo Clinic.
It is caused by the varicella zoster virus, which is the same virus that causes chickenpox and shingles. But after a case of chickenpox resolves, the virus can still reactivate years later.
Ramsay Hunt syndrome primarily affects adults over the age of 60, and it’s considered rare in children, according to the Mount Sinai Health System.
What are Justin Bieber’s symptoms?
Bieber’s main symptom of epidemic syndrome is facial paralysis, which is one of the two main symptoms
“As you can see, that eye isn’t blinking,” the singer said, referring to the left side of his face. “I can’t smile on this side of my face. This nostril isn’t moving. So there’s complete paralysis on this side of my face.”
But Ramsay Hunt syndrome can also manifest as a red, painful rash with fluid-filled blisters around an ear, according to the Mayo Clinic.
People with Ramsay Hunt syndrome may need medications, including antivirals, corticosteroids, anti-anxiety medications, and other pain relievers.
