Class of 2023 wing Jamie Kaiser makes an official visit to IU, beginning Tuesday.
After landing two guards at the start of the 2023 class, Kaiser represents part of the next phase of priorities that IU staff have in the rising senior class – long-range and perimeter shooting ability.
Kaiser already had Division One offers, but overall came out of nowhere this spring after ditching Division One football offers and focusing on basketball. He is now a coveted national prospect.
Below are key things to know about Kaiser as he arrives for his two-day visit.

NATIONAL RECRUITMENT SERVICE ASSESSMENTS
Adam Finkelstein, 247Sports:
A tall winger whose frame still bears the scars of his history on the football pitch, Kaiser is a real mismatch problem. He can do threes, tough pull-ups over contending defenders, and isn’t averse to bringing smaller wings into the post and using his size and strength.
More than that, he just competes and plays hard. It’s obviously not just game day either, as the growth in his game is clearly a direct reflection of the time he’s been spending in the gym, now that he’s decided to focus strictly on basketball.
Jamie Shaw, On3:
Jamie Kaiser is a strong, long-armed frame wing. His jump shot is textbook, and he takes it with great range and confidence. Lateral mobility will be questionable, but his strength and motor skills allow him to be a good defender. Kaiser knows his game and his spots and plays an effective brand of basketball. He was a major football player with multiple P6 deals. He recently said that he would only focus on basketball. Kaiser’s father played football at Slippery Rock and his cousin, Eric Hicks, played in the NFL for 13 years. Simply put, Kaiser produces.
Tyler McKittrick, Point Guard Eyes:
An increasingly refined 3-tier marker whose play continues to grow at a rapid pace. Excels from the perimeter when able to operate on the holds, limit his dribbling to effective use, and work in space. Becomes a less effective scorer as a creator on the ball, where he may struggle to create separation, leading to difficult mid-range and 3-point shots. However, registering a high utilization rate during the school season gave him valuable experience in this role. It honed his attacking skills and propelled his growth as a multi-faceted goalscorer.

Kaiser on Indianavia The Daily Hoosier:
“It’s really historic. My dad lived in Detroit and he was a huge Isiah Thomas fan, so he made me study Isiah Thomas and I understand that he went to Indiana and won there. And then they had great guys that came from high school like Damon Bailey, and all those guys.

“They are pushing very hard. I talk to them several times a day and it’s just great to hear from them.
Kaiser on what he looks for in a university program, via The Daily Hoosier:
“Like I’m comfortable meeting them in person and seeing if I can tell if they’re honest. I know genuine people when I see them, so I feel like just going on campus and talking to people and looking them in the eye is going to be important to me because then I’ll actually know and refine my decision. People come and go, and I just want to stick with good people.
