CLAY COUNTY (KFDX/KJTL) — Two people are facing charges following a fight that broke out during a basketball game between Seymour and Petrolia on Friday night.
According to Clay County Constable Sidney Horton, a fight broke out at the basketball game held in Petrolia between Seymour fans and a single player from the Petrolia men’s team shortly before 7:30 p.m. on Friday, February 11.
Horton said a juvenile Seymour student was detained and then turned over to the athletic director of Seymour ISD. He said the minor faces charges of assault causing bodily harm which will be filed at a later date.
Based on witness statements and video evidence, Horton said John Kevin Anderson, 67, was arrested and jailed in Clay County Jail for assaulting a sports participant.
At the time of publication, no bond amount has been set.
The victim suffered facial injuries and was treated at the scene by the Clay County Ambulance Service.
