The holidays are upon us, which means many families around the world will be sitting down to watch some of the many Christmas classics, like Elf, which stars Will Ferrell in the lead role.

Nostalgic nearly 20 years after its release, the comedy co-star, Zooey Deschanel, took to Instagram and shared footage of the scene where her character, Jovie, is ordered by her boss at Gimbels to do “six-inch ribbon bows, honey”, to which she defiantly replies , “It’s impossible”.

With the debate over whether it’s actually possible to make six-inch ribbon bows having taken place over these two decades, Deschanel doubled down on his assertion that it’s still impossible.

Feeling nostalgic: Zooey Deschanel, now 42, shared some footage from a classic scene in Elf (2003) and doubled down on her character Jovie’s claim that it’s impossible to make “ribbon cuts of six inches”

Fans may recall that the Gimbles manager, played by Faizon Love, followed up on his request for the ribbon bow by making it more of a request: ‘SIX….INCHES….’, a- he stated in the scene, ending the conversation.

“When he asks for 6-inch ribbon bows…(that’s impossible),” the actress, now 42, said in the caption, alongside a photo of herself dressed of a red and green Christas ensemble.

The image shows Jovie giving the boss a not-so-enthusiastic look at the time of the request.

In fact, she may be right that it’s impossible, considering that his character is meant to lack skills and come across as lazy and uninspired at work.

On top of that: She doesn’t like Christmas like Will Farrell’s character, Buddy Hobbs, aka Buddy the Elf, expects everyone else to.

Directed by Jon Favreau from a screenplay by David Berenbaum, Elf tells the story of Buddy, a human raised by Santa’s elves who discovers his origins and travels from the North Pole to New York to meet his biological father, Walter Hobbs (James Caan), a children’s book publisher, who doesn’t know he exists and is in desperate need of some Christmas spirit.
