An Instagram star known for her transformation into “zombie Angelina Jolie” has reportedly been released from an Iranian prison after new photos show her ghoulish look was the result of deception, not plastic surgery.
Fatemeh Khishvand was originally jailed for 10 years after being charged with blasphemy and inciting violence following a nationwide crackdown on Instagram “celebrities”.
However, it seems the Radical Islamic State took a heart charge and released her.
Ms Khishvand’s attorney, Saied Dehgan, said she was released on bail after serving about 15 months in prison, according to The Sun.
The 19-year-old, known as Sahar Tabar on Instagram, rose to fame in 2017 after claiming she had dozens of surgeries to look like her favorite Hollywood star, Angelina Jolie.
However, in a video shown on Iranian state television, Khishvand revealed that his Instagram photos were fake.
She said they were made by Photoshop and makeup.
“Fatemeh Khishvand is a genius teenager who knows how to use social media for her own purposes,” Mr. Dehgan told The Sun.
Earlier this year, Ms Khishvand was placed on a ventilator after contracting coronavirus in prison.
