Owned by Grammy-winning music producer and songwriter Christian karlsson, the house is a prize in itself.
Built in 1956 and measuring just under 4,000 square feet, the modern single-story residence designed by the architect John galbraith offers three bedrooms and 3.5 baths, an open floor plan, as well as many original details. The current owners are only the third owners of the house and bought it last year for $ 2.38 million.
After the purchase, they embarked on a delicate renovation that restored some of the original eye-catching details of the home’s interior and added some modern touches. After their plans changed, with a return to Sweden, they put the newly remodeled residence on the market.
The house is accessed through a formal entrance and the stone floor leads into an open plan living and dining area with polished concrete floors. It is accented with a redwood art wall and the focal point is a spectacular two-sided fireplace with two floating fireplaces. There is now a full bar and glass walls lead out to the patio.
A renovated kitchen also combines modern and original. Updated touches include stainless steel appliances, new counters and lighting, plus a breakfast bar. Revived original mahogany cabinetry and a restored custom hood anchor the space in its 1950s roots.
In the master bedroom suite you will find a fireplace, sliding glass doors, a redesigned bathroom with a tiled shower and double vanity.
Two guest bedrooms and a boudoir with a glass wall and integrated elements complete the layout. A detached bonus space can serve as a game room, studio or home office.
Situated on nearly an acre, the land includes a huge flat lot with a swimming pool, patio and lawn. An oversized double garage completes the offer.
Rick yohon with Sotheby’s International Realty, represents the list, which is co-listed with Constantine Valissarakos by Nourmand and associates. He notes that the home is a unique combination of preserved mid-century classic features mixed with modern updates.
“The setting is one of a kind,” he adds. “It is nestled between the mountains and the city, with a 180 degree view that can be enjoyed from the house and the pool.”
Beyond songwriting, Karlsson also seems to enjoy the real estate business. He and his wife, a diplomat, also owned another architectural gem in the area. They recently sold another nearby mid-century modern home for $ 3.5 million, Dirt reported.
Karlsson, who goes by the stage name Bloodshy, is one half of the DJ duo Galantis, who produced songs for Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, and Katy Perry. They also wrote over 25 songs for Britney spears, including his massive hit “Toxic”.
