WWE is only 27 days from WrestleMania 36 and the map is starting to be finalized.
The main title matches are pretty much all defined.
We know that Drew McIntyre will challenge Brock Lesnar for the WWE title and Roman Reigns will challenge Goldberg for the Universal title.
After Elimination Chamber, we know Shayna Baszler will challenge Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair will use her Royal Rumble win to challenge the NXT Women title, something Rhea Ripley owns and Flair hasn’t fought in five years.
However, on the side of SmackDown, the women have not yet drawn a clear path.
Bayley has reigned supreme since winning the title at Money in the Bank last year and has been feuding with Lacey Evans in recent months.
A source told talkSPORT that Bayley will defend himself in a six pack challenge at WrestleMania 36 with his friend Sasha Banks, Evans, Carmella and Naomi being five of the six women.
When asked if Alexa Bliss would be sixth, talkSPORT learned that she and Nikki Cross would compete for women’s team titles in addition to Divas of Doom against the Kabuki Warriors.
It is believed that the original plan for WrestleMania was indeed a Bayley and Banks program.
However, Banks’ injury in January, which made him miss all of February, forced them to rethink.
In addition to this, Banks believes he prefers to suspend the singles match between the two for a pay-per-view where they will have more light and time.
The two women have also expressed this same conviction to me in the past.
This match is expected to start sewing the seeds of what we can expect to see Banks and Bayley moving forward.
