WWE Hall of Fame Charles Wright (The Godfather) shared the story of when The Rock ended their traveling companion relationship.
WWE Hall of Famer “The Godfather” Charles Wright has revealed that his former WWE colleague Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson had abandoned him as a traveling companion due to Wright’s constant cannabis use.
In a recent episode of the Such Good Shoot podcast, the former Intercontinental Champion reflected on when his teammate Nation Of Domination confronted him about his weed consumption.
“One day Rocky came to me and said, ‘Hey, daddy, I can’t ride with you anymore, ‘”The Godfather Called Back”I’m like ‘What do you mean, you can’t fucking ride with me anymore?’ He said, “Bruh, everywhere I go I smell the grass and I tell people I don’t smell the grass. And then the next time they see me they say every time I see you you say you don’t smell the grass, but you smell the grass! ‘”
The Godfather didn’t intend to cast Mary Jane, so he started traveling with Farooq and Bradshaw (The Acolytes) instead. Meanwhile, The Rock started driving town to town with D-Lo Brown and Mark Henry.
“As soon as I got in the car, bro, as soon as I got in the fucking car, I shoot [smoking] to the building, you know“said the Godfather.”And so brother I’m not going to quit smoking so that’s when I started riding with Ron [Simmons] and Jean [Bradshaw Layfield], Les Acolytes, and then him [The Rock], D’Lo and Mark Henry started riding together. “
The Rock and The Godfather were both members of The Nation Of Domination between August 1997 and October 1998. Farooq, D-Lo Brown and Mark Henry were also members of the group. After the team disbanded, The Rock played like a babyface for a few weeks before becoming Heel again in Survivor Series ’98 when he lined up with the dastardly Vince McMahon and The Corporation after winning the Championship.
