Video game developer Kylotonn and publisher Nacon have announced their upcoming video game featuring the 2022 FIA World Rally Championship season. Dubbed the WRC Generations, the game is the seventh entry in the series of WRC games developed by Kylotonn – the last before its license expires and is transferred to Electronic Arts in 2023.
After 2021’s WRC 10, WRC Generations is moving away from the numbered moniker of the official WRC video game series. Besides the name, there are a number of special additions this time around, including cars and stages featured in the game.
WRC Generations will offer Rally1 cars under the Rally1 hybrid rules added for 2022. New cars include the Toyota GR Yaris Rally1, Hyundai i20 N Rally1 (pictured above) and Ford Puma Rally1. There are also 37 historic cars, as seen in the trailer video embedded above.
Meanwhile, the in-game stage of Rally Sweden has been changed to narrow, high-speed, snowy tracks to reflect the Umeå region in the 2022 season. There are also nine locations outside of the WRC calendar , totaling 165 stages for the all-new game.
Meanwhile, WRC 10’s expanded career mode returns in WRC Generations, giving players the chance to create their own teams. League mode will also be available for WRC generations, as will online multiplayer from the game’s predecessor.
WRC Generations will be available on October 13, 2022 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S consoles. It will also become available for PC and Nintendo Switch at a later date, although an exact launch date for those two has not been announced at this stage.
