Wonka-inspired Glasgow chocolate experience to be recreated in Los Angeles

Glasgow’s infamous Willy Wonka-inspired chocolate experiment – which left children in tears and prompted calls to the police – is to be recreated in Los Angeles.

The unique event has been described as “ironic” and like a Hollywood comedy. Zach Galifianakis is one of those who would be involved in the project.

A website advertising tickets to the event said all proceeds would go to a “mental health charity” and promised: “We’ll actually deliver.”

The original ‘Willy’s Chocolate Experience’ at £35 a ticket in Scotland makes headlines and sparked dozens of memes after images surfaced showing his near-empty warehouse decorated with just a handful of props and a bouncy castle.

Families were promised a “chocolate fantasy like never before” – but parents described it as “chaotic” and “terrible”, with many demanding a refund. The police were also called.

Actress and yoga teacher Kirsty Paterson, 29, who became a viral hit after photos emerged of her in a sad Oompa Loompa at the Glasgow event, will star in the California version.

Ms Paterson has been introduced as the “famous Scottish Oompa Loompa” and will take part in a question and answer session.

Attendees are invited to “enter a world of pure imagination at Willy’s Chocolate Experience Los Angeles as chocolate memes come to life” in an “indescribable” warehouse, where two free jelly beans will be given away per $44 ticket (35 £) on April 28. .

Speaking to the Daily Record, Ms Paterson described the opportunity as a “modern-day fairy tale” – and said the organizers were not linked to the company behind the Glasgow event.

Actress from Willy Wonka event unmasked

Ms Paterson told the newspaper she had received messages of support from celebrities in the United States and was hoping to launch a career as a children’s television presenter.

She added: “I didn’t really expect to end up in America or go this far because America is on a different level. I’ve never been to America before. As an actor in training, it’s really exciting for me. to go there.

“I do a lot of meetings and a lot of networking. As a trained actress, it’s not impossible for me to make films.”

Guests will be welcomed to “a plethora of enchanting attractions” in downtown Los Angeles, including DJ sets and film screenings, as well as meeting Ms Paterson – who has been described as having a “heart Golden”.

Galifianakis will reportedly host a Q&A session at the event with fellow comic Nathan Fielder.

Ms Paterson said she was a big fan of both and “can’t wait to meet them”.

The event listing also states: “Additionally, Hollywood heartthrob Timothée Chalamet expressed interest in attending, further building the excitement surrounding this extraordinary event.
