Deadline reports that Paramount won an auction as Gadot, Jenkins, and Roven shopped Cleopatra around via Zoom meetings that also involved Warner Bros., Netflix and Apple. But now a new Cleopatra the film is in preparation at Paramount Pictures starring Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot is set to take over the team with DC Comics superhero franchise director Patty Jenkins.

Gadot Sunday, confirmed his role to supporters Sunday after the film’s production was announced.

However, many, including the screenwriter, were quick to point out that Cleopatra was neither Arab nor black, but rather a Macedonian Greek.
Gadot and Jenkins’ The highly anticipated Wonder Woman 1984, a sequel to their 2017 hit film about the DC Comics superhero, is set to hit theaters on Christmas Day after being recently pushed back from its slated October 2 release date.
