INDIANAPOLIS – The Horizon League portion of the women’s basketball schedule has been released, as the conference today announced the 20-game slate for the double round robin.

“We are excited about an exciting new league schedule and this crew is ready to compete this year,” the head coach said. Kari Hoffman expressed.
Wright State’s conference schedule begins at the Nutter Center on Dec. 2 against Robert Morris. Two days later, on December 4, the Raiders will host Youngstown State. WSU will resume HL action in Northern Kentucky on December 28, followed by a New Year’s road game against defending Horizon League champion IUPUI (January 1).
The Raiders will return home to face two Wisconsin schools in Green Bay on January 5 and Milwaukee on January 7 before traveling north for matchups in Detroit Mercy (January 13) and Oakland (January 15). Wright State will continue to go back and forth with home meetings against Cleveland State (January 20), Purdue Fort Wayne (January 22), NKU (February 2) and IUPUI (February 4), in addition to away matchups at YSU (January 26) and Robert Morris (January 28).
WSU will embark on a four-game road trip in mid-February. Wright State will begin by taking on Milwaukee on February 10 and will continue to Green Bay (February 12), Cleveland State (February 16) and Purdue Fort Wayne (February 18).
The Raiders wrap up their regular-season conference slate with home games against Oakland on Feb. 23 and Detroit Mercy on Feb. 25.
The start of the Horizon League Basketball Championship will once again begin on campus with first-round games scheduled for February 28 and March 2. The Horizon League semi-finals and championship game are scheduled for March 6-7.
OPPONENT INFORMATION
Robert Morris (December 2, Nutter Center | January 28, Moon Township, Pennsylvania) RMU finished 14-15 last season with an even mark of 11-11 in Horizon League play. The Raiders lost a 63-54 battle to the Colonials in the only meeting between the two programs a season ago. During the 2020-21 campaign, Channing Chappell tied a single-game school record against RMU going 6-of-6 from 3-point range on his way to a career-high 22 points. Wright State trails the young series, 3-6 all-time.
Youngstown State (December 4, Nutter Center | January 26, Youngstown, OH)
Youngstown State posted a 24-7 overall record last year with an 18-4 mark in HL action. The Penguins won a bid for the 2022 Women’s VIT, falling to foe Kent State in the first round. Makira Webster scored seven points in 30 minutes against YSU in the two teams’ only meeting last season. Wright State leads the overall series 39-28, which includes 11 wins over the previous 14 meetings.
Northern Kentucky (December 28, Highland Heights, KY | February 2, Nutter Center)
NKU is coming off a 21-8 record last year, with a 14-6 record against HL opponents. The Raiders are 14-2 in their last 16 against the Norse. The all-time series is narrowly in favor of WSU, 15-14.
IUPUI (January 1, Indianapolis, IN | February 4, Nutter Center) A season ago, the Jaguars won three straight in the Horizon League Championship to earn an automatic NCAA Tournament bid. As the No. 13 seed, IUPUI fell to Oklahoma 78-72 in the first round of the Big Dance. Jordan Stanley scored his first collegiate 3-pointer in last season’s loss to the Jaguars. IUPUI will enter the 2022-23 season under freshman head coach Kate Bruce. Wright State holds a substantial advantage in the all-time series, leading 13-6.
Green Bay (January 5, Nutter Center | February 12, Green Bay, WI) Green Bay finished 19-8 overall and 14-4 in the Horizon League last season. The Phoenix defeated Milwaukee in the HL Championship quarterfinals before falling to Cleveland State in the next round. The head coach Kari Hoffman, a Wisconsin native, began her coaching career as director of basketball operations at Green Bay during the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons. The Phoenix qualified for the NCAA Tournament both years.
Milwaukee (January 7, Nutter Center | February 10, Milwaukee, WI) The Panthers posted a 15-16 overall record and a 13-9 mark in the conference in the 2021-22 campaign. MKE ended their season against Green Bay in the Horizon League Championship Quarter-Finals. The Raiders hold a slight 35-34 lead over Milwaukee in the overall series.
Detroit Mercy (January 13, Detroit, MI | February 25, Nutter Center) Detroit Mercy finished 2021-22 with a 1-29 record and a 1-21 conference mark. The Raiders lead the all-time series 34-28, which includes 10 straight wins over Detroit. WSU won twice against the Titans by an average margin of 10 points last year. Makira Webster recorded season highs in points (8), field goals (3), 3 points (2) and assists (3) in last season’s 72-56 win over UDM .
Oakland (January 15, Rochester, MI | February 23, Nutter Center) The Golden Grizzlies went 15-15 overall and 11-9 in HL play en route to a trip to the conference tournament semifinals. In 2015, standout point guard Tay’ler Mingo broke a school single-game record with 12 assists against Oakland. Wright State controlled the all-time series against OU with 18 wins in 23 career meetings.
Cleveland State (January 20, Nutter Center | February 18, Cleveland, OH) Cleveland State finished last season with a 23-9 overall record and a 14-6 mark in Horizon League action, falling to IUPUI in the conference tournament title game. Channing Chappell converted on a career-high six free throws in the lone meeting between WSU and CSU a season ago. The Raiders own a 42-40 advantage in the all-time series, which dates back to 1977.
Purdue Fort Wayne (January 22, Nutter Center | February 16, Fort Wayne, IN) The Mastodons are 9-21 with a 7-14 conference record in their second season in the Horizon League. Wright State leads the overall series, 10-7.
