OXFORD, Miss. – Rebels look international this summer, with women’s basketball head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin announcing the team’s 2023 foreign tour of Italy from July 30 to August 8.
“With so many newcomers for next season, I’m delighted with the opportunity an overseas tour to Italy gives our team to learn our philosophy and our system,” the head coach said. Yolett McPhee-McCuin. “The extra games and practices leading up to the tour give us a unique avenue to build chemistry and will help our student-athletes nurture relationships with each other on and off the field,” McPhee-McCuin said.
“A promise we make to all of our student-athletes during the recruitment process is that we will provide great experiences as part of Ole Miss representation. Traveling and performing in Europe provides a chance to expose our young girls to different cultures, broaden their horizons, and also provide lasting memories for life.”
The NCAA allows basketball teams to travel internationally every four years. Although pre-season games do not count towards the 2023-24 campaign, the trip provides the opportunity for additional training and game action.
The nine-day tour will feature three matches for the Rebels, as the team travels through Italy with several stops along the way. Ole Miss will have the opportunity to visit some of the most iconic sites in the country traveling to Rome, Florence as well as Naples and the Amalfi Coast.

The Rebels have started their season well and are currently 7-1. Ole Miss recently held Alabama A&M to the fewest single-game points allowed in program history in a dominating 74-28 victory Tuesday night at the SJB Pavilion.
Ole Miss faces a big road test at No. 23 Oklahoma (6-1) this Sunday, Dec. 4, at 2 p.m. CT on ESPN+.
