Bruno Lage is fighting to save his job as Wolves manager after their 2-0 defeat at West Ham, according to talkSPORT.
The Hammers climbed out of the relegation zone at the expense of their visitors on Saturday, who now sit 18th in the Premier League table.
talkSPORT understands that the Molineux hierarchy are concerned about Wolves’ poor start to the season.
It is also understood that players have become disillusioned with Lage’s training methods.
Wolves have just one win and three draws in their first eight games of the 2022/23 season.
Their tally of six points puts them above Leicester and Nottingham Forest in the current table, with those two teams set to play each other on Sunday.
Wolves looked lackluster at the London Stadium as West Ham picked up three all-important points.
With Nathan Collins suspended for his savage challenge on Jack Grealish last month, Ruben Neves was forced to drop into the unfamiliar role of centre-back in his 150th appearance for the club.
The Portuguese midfielder’s task for the evening was not made easier when he landed an early booking for a body check on Jarrod Bowen.
West Ham should have gone forward when Bowen’s shot was deflected by Jose Sa into Scamacca’s feet, but the Italian striker clawed back the rebound.
However, Scamacca made no mistake in the 29th minute after his pass found Bowen on the right.
When the England winger finally ran out of space in the box, the ball came back to Scamacca, who kicked the ball in before hitting a superb half-volley from 20 yards past Sa.
West Ham doubled their lead in the 54th minute when Thilo Kehrer’s shot sped past Bowen’s path.
The 25-year-old still had plenty to do, but he danced around full-back Rayan Alt-Nouri before burying a low shot into the near post by Sa.
Diego Costa then made his first appearance in the Premier League since May 2017, and a first since January.
But when the veteran’s chance came from a Traore cross, the rust showed as he planted a free header wide.
The match ended 2-0 – a result that cast doubt on Lage’s future at Wolves.
