BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Athletics announced a new student admissions process for the upcoming seasons of men’s and women’s basketball on Monday.
Due to COVID-19 regulations approved by the Governor’s Office, WKU will begin basketball seasons with a 15% attendance capacity at EA Diddle Arena. With this restriction in mind, a limited capacity of 150 students will be allowed to attend each men’s and women’s basketball game during the 2020-2021 season.
Like all customers attending matches inside the EA Diddle Arena, students will receive a temperature check at the door and proceed to a pre-designated student section. Masks will be required at all times inside the arena and social distancing guidelines must be followed.

The first 150 students to show up at the student gate (EA Diddle Arena entrance 2, next to parking structure 2) on match day with their valid student ID card will have access to the game.
To have the chance to be admitted to a men’s basketball game this season, current WKU students must participate in the student lottery through the Red Wave app. The Red Wave app can be downloaded here for Apple and here for Android.
Once students have downloaded the app, they should ensure they have a valid @ topper.wku.edu email address and mobile phone number linked to their profile. App users with incorrect mobile phone numbers or no phone numbers associated with their Red Wave app profile will not be able to be admitted to the game.
Students are allowed to RSVP for any men’s basketball game of their choice by clicking “Join Lottery”.
Among the students who answered / join the lottery for each game, 150 students will be chosen at random through the app. Selected students will receive a voucher via text message which will serve as your entry ticket to the game. Students may not resell or exchange this voucher with others.
Students who receive a game voucher via SMS are requested to come to the student gate on match day with their valid WKU student card.
December games will be open for RSVP on Monday, November 30. January games will be open for RSVP on Friday January 1. February games will be open for RSVP on Monday February 1st. Students will be informed at least four days before match day that they have been selected at random.
Students can RSVP for as many games as they choose throughout the season. However, if a student responds and receives a voucher but cannot attend the match, they must notify the WKU Athletics Marketing Department at [email protected] at least 24 hours prior to the match time. Students who do not show up for a game for which they receive a voucher may be excluded from the lottery for the remainder of the season.
