Microsoft’s recently renamed Phone Link app (formerly called Your Phone) may get some much-requested improvements in a future release. The update could give Windows 11 better smartphone control, with a search bar for the Mail app and more.
It looks like Microsoft is finally ready to add some new features to its Phone Link app after the redesign and rebrand. Spotted by a user on Twitter and Neowin, Microsoft is testing an updated Phone Link app with an included search bar.
With the new search bar, Windows 10 and 11 users can quickly search and find messages from their mobile device directly on a PC. No more endless scrolling in chats.

You’ll also be able to categorize messages, which will make texting from a computer even easier. In the change, we see an option to organize text messages in Windows 11 into two lists, either received or hidden, most likely for viewed messages.
It looks like Microsoft will also add a proper “Clear All” button and change icon notifications for Messages and the Phone Link app.
Unfortunately, Microsoft has yet to confirm these changes, nor are they available on Windows Insider builds. However, we might see them coming in a future update. And who knows, maybe it’s the basis for an even bigger update that makes Android phones more fun to play with Windows.
Still, Phone Link is a great option for owners of Android phones running Windows 11.
