Paden City head coach Dave Riggle and assistant coach Robert Price welcomed 12 players on the first day of training on November 15. The seniors leading the Wildcats this year are Shane Anderson, Brandon Hizer and Ashton Howard.
I asked Coach Riggle about his expectations for the season. “We’re very athletic this year, so we’re working on being an aggressive defensive team. “
“We graduated from senior Ty Cain who averaged 20 points per game, so our goal right now is to keep the teams 20 points less per game than last year, mastering multiple presses, defenses zone and aggressive man running. If we can accomplish that, I have no doubts that seniors Brandon Hizer and Shane Anderson can provide at least 20 points between them in the paint. I also have 3 fantastic sophomores, Joey Baker, Mickey Guerra, and Jeremiah Thomas who can add multiple buckets per room. Joel Moore is also returning this season as a junior averaging 19.8 points per game compared to last season. If we can achieve all of these goals, including lower turnover, we will be successful this year. “ Paden City opens the season on December 9 at home against Hundred.
